To be able to use your Echo Dot, you need to Connect Echo Dot to WiFi for it to stream media, speak and process your commands.
Plug in your Echo Dot device into a power outlet
Open the Alexa app and open the navigation panel on the left to select settings Select your device and then choose to update your Wi-Fi connection. If you have not previously connected to your device, choose set up a new device
Turn on your device by pressing the action button. Wait until the light turns orange. You will then be able to connect your mobile device to the echo dot. You will be notified with the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your screen. Note: You might have to manually Connect Echo Dot to WiFi settings when you start with. Pick your Wi-Fi network and punch in the respective password. If your Wi-Fi network is not found, scroll down the page and choose to add a network or rescan to find your network.
◦ MAC address: To add your Alexa device to your personal router’s list of approved devices, scroll down and ding your MAC address. ◦ Optional step: Save your Wi-Fi password to Amazon account. This allows you to automatically connect to your Alexa device every time you sign in by remembering the password (if save password option is given). ◦ Optional step: Connect Echo Dot to Wi-Fi to a public network. Enter the necessary information asked while connecting to a public network such as a hotel or school. The network provider usually shares a pre-shared password, room number or just to accept the terms and conditions in order to use the network. This cannot be saved to your Amazon account, the information is the rightful property of the network owner only.
Choose to Connect. Once you are done with the process of Connect Echo Dot to WiFi network, you will receive a confirmation message on your screen. Your setup is now done and you are ready to use Alexa~
